Poster ideas

Basically, we have to make a film poster for our website. These are some of my ideas:

-Rollerblading scene- Jade is in front and Aimee is behind. Aimee is masked and the opacity is turned down, so she appears transparent.

-Beach scene- Aimee and Jade are lying on the towels. Clumps of photos of Jade are masked all over the sand.

-Photo album- Jade's photo album with her hand over it. Her hand, or alternatively the photo album, is masked with photos.

-'Unforgettable' written in pills on the bench top from the kitchen scene. The pills would have tiny masked photos from the film on them

Some concepts

I put in 3 secret links in my website. These lead to 3 different 'extra' goodies- the trailer for my film, my blog address (to check out pre-production, production and post-production information) and some trivia/fun facts which includes filming locations. I thought this would be a nice addition to my website. Also, it's symbolic because all photos have hidden meanings. Many websites have 'easter eggs' as well, put there on purpose so people can discover.

I also thought up of an idea- Jade's photo album. Basically, I would've taken photos of some of the pages in the album, and scanned indivicual photos. I would have 6 pages scanned, and there are 3 photos per page. So 18 photos in total. Each would have an individual description. e.g. Jade's first day at school. She found out later that no one wanted to be friends with her, until she met Aimee' I thought it would be a cool feature but unfortunately I ran out of time and couldn't do it :(

If I knew how to use Flash, I would create a splash page in which photos would float down onto a pile of photos. The word enter would be written on a photo which has been turned face down. But I can't really do this because I have no idea how to use flash... at all.

Test Revision

Genre is a loose set of criteria for a category or composition

Mise-en-scene: Lighting, style of acting, setting, props

Cinematorgraphy: Framing, camera position, camera movement, focus, perspective, exposure, speed

Your eye is drawn to either, the golden spiral, the golden triangle or the rule of thirds. Thus, these shots are very effective.

Editing: graphic relationships (jump cut shortens events and match cut matching of one object visual element with another), rhythm, passing of time

Sound: Music, sound effects, dialogue

3 steps to filmmaking: pre-production(writing, planning, storyboarding, props, costumes, location research release forms), production (organising cast and crew, setting up location, setting up camera equipment, setting up lighting and sound equipment, rehearsing each shot, filming/recording each shot, multiple takes, logging shots), post-production (editing: logging and capturing all footage, trimming each shot, CREATING AN EDL [edit decision list], rendering the film, adding transitions, exporting a film as a movie, dvd etc. SOUND: writing/recoring the music or soundtrack, designing the audio track [re-recording dialogue, recording voice over dialogue, planning and recording sound effecs] mixing all of these audio elements together.

Villains are traditionally on the left

Analysis: Examples?
What conventions are common within this genre?
Mis-en-scene? (lighting, colour, setting, props, acting)
Cinematography? (framing, exposure, position, focus, perspective)
Sound? (music, effects, dialogue)
Editing? (rhythm, timing)

WORKING ON EDITING

I have started my rough cut and editing on the weekend. Due to the fact that one of my group members went on exchange and didnt give the rest of us the rough cut, I had to start one from scratch. I am planning to take a laptop home on the weekend in order to complete the rough cut and editing of the film. I have an idea of what the rough cut is going to look like, and what the soundtrack will be (Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata) and I will record myself playing it on the piano if there are issues with the Copyright.

It takes a while for the footage to convert in mpeg streamclip, and it also takes a while to sort through all the footage in order to find shots that I could use.

The final film is due soon... so hopefully I can get it done in time?

Locations

During our filming, we ended up using the following locations.

ALBUM
- Boarding house
- My house

ROLLERBLADING
- Main Beach (The path near the surf club)
- School (montage)

BEACH
- Main Beach (Neat the surf club)

STAIRS
- The indoor stairs leading up to the boarding house

PARTY
- Picnic table near the tuckshop

PILL
- None... (hoping to use grade 12 common room or Hartlee's house)

We filmed the rollerblading scene and the beach scene together because it was really convenient being able to film both scenes in one area.
